Best MMA Podcasts
Posted on 25 March, 2022
These are the best podcasts in MMA. The top half are podcasts fight analysis, talking about upcoming cards and the second half are podcasts that have a lot of fighter interviews.
Fight Analysis
Jack Slack
Good for people who like in-depth, highly technical analysis of recent fights. Extremely knowledgable about the history of martial arts. Also has a youtube playlist called "Filthy Casual's Guide" which breaks down an aspect of a fighter's technique and its evolution. His site (mostly paid articles) features his breakdowns on fighters' technique.
Full Reptile
Run by ex-UFC fighter (who fought challenged for the UFC welterweight belt once, but lost to then champion GSP) and ex-commentator. Great for fans who like highly technical analysis of upcoming fights. Dan Hardy presents the fighters skills and deficits in a balanced way that is rare for many other analysts. Helps you understand both fighters' paths to victories. Uses clips of fighter and stats to paint a picture of how the fight will go.
Morning Kombat
The combat sports podcast of the year (2022) A strangely entertaining show with a cult following that covers upcoming MMA/Boxing fights and storylines by Luke Thomas (a very good MMA analyst) and Bryan Campbell (a hilarious boxing commentator). Recently did a couple of interviews with fighters which went very deep into mindset and strategy. The show usually has wacky segments and has episodes multiple times a week. Their personalities make this show stand out. This show may not be for everyone.
The Heavy Hands Podcast
A show by 2 MMA journalists Connor Ruebusch (the American) and Phil Mackenzie (the Brit) discussing past and upcoming fights, technique, predictions, and their unwarranted hate for specific fighters. They have both been in the MMA journalism game for a long time and can give you an understanding of how MMA has progressed.
Fighter Interviews
Submission Radio
A funny Australian podcast run by Kacper Rosolowski & Denis Shkuratov that showcases fighter interviews as well as their own thoughts on recent MMA news. Very laidback style, and the interviewees always seem to open up more because of it. Probably does the best job with the MMA fighters from New Zealand and Australia.
The MMA Hour
Great for fans who want to see a lot of interviews with fighters and other people in the MMA space. Run by the famous MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, twice a week. The episodes can be a little on the long side at around 4 hours per episode.
The Joe Rogan Experience
Love him or hate him, he has over a hundred great interviews with MMA fighters (which he calls the JRE MMA show). Joe has access to a lot of the best MMA fighters, but also does interviews with lesser known veterans. He does a lot of non-MMA interviews as well. It's unfortunately only on Spotify.
